Khutba Network: Good is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Dear Current & Potential Khateebs:

What if babies were satisfied with learning how to crawl? Would they ever learn to walk, jump, or run?
As grownups, we tend to become satisfied with the status quo. Some people may give a few good khutbas/talks and they see themselves on the top of the world looking down at everyone else.

Well, Good is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. There's always room for improvement and we would like to bring all the khateebs in-training, new khateebs, and instructors to our next mandatory workshop/refresher.

Next Meeting for Khateebs to discuss the following:

  • Khutba Network
  • Certification Process

Why-Islam Center, Somerset, NJ
Saturday, March 10, 2012
Time: 10:00 - 11:30 am

Bismillah ... the NEXT BIG STEP

We are moving forward and gaining momentum as we find many of our qualified khateebs take lead in delivering family, Friday, youth halaqa, khatira after fajr, daily hadith, or jumuah prayers. Some of our khateebs in certification process are taking tajweed, Arabic and Islamic Studies (Quran, fiqh, hadith) courses to improve their recitation and knowledge of Islam which is praiseworthy. Our young and old khateebs are busy writing and speaking and improving their knowledge as we continue our KHUTBA TEAM assessment.

In general, khateebs need to pass two main areas:

1.  Excellence in Tajweed

     1a. Quran Recitation
     1b. Leading prayers

2.  Excellence in Public Speaking (khutba)

2a. memorize khutbat al-hajja and associated jumua requirements
2b. write a khutba (submit via email)
2c. give a jumua' khutba (recording should be sent to MYCCNJ [at] gmail)
     2d. complete Khateeb Profile

For INSPIRING KHATEEBS, I hope this info is helpful in taking the NEXT BIG STEP and moving forward with certification process.

We have A Khutbah Team!

Salam Alaikum,

Alhamdo lillah, we had a core group of dedicated individuals who learned and taught and we all benefited from the experience while adding a value to our lives (and khutbas).

Three (3) GEMS from Khutba Workshop held on Jan. 13-15, 2012.

1. Personally, I learned that I need to package the khutba with a repetitious Take-home message that asks the audience TO DO something.

2.  I was also reminded that a khutba is about presenting a topic that will move people's souls towards God and
Not just randomly collected ayat and hadith on a given topic.

3.  Khutba is a
trust and I should prepare the khutba to the best of my ability using so many resources that were mentioned in the class.

Video: Baba Ali on Khutba Topics.- Funny!

Please make dua' for the success of this program and may Allah give you much success.

Faraz

We will post info on first batch of our Best & Brightest Khateebs on our website. They will be available for Khutba Service within a few weeks. http://KhutbaTeam.blogspot.com
